PLEASE NOTE: If you enroll online and qualify for the 10% discount, it will be applied at a later time. You will receive an e-mail notifying you of your discount. To qualify for a discount, you must either enroll one child in more than one week OR enroll more than one child in camps. Please note: The first camp for either one child or multiple children will be full price and subsequent enrollments will be discounted at 10% off.
Week 11 (August 2- 6) - $150
Put on a Puppet Show (Ages 5-7) Instructor: Cierra Jennings
this camp blends visual art and drama into a week of fun! Campers will create unique individual puppets out of various materials. Using improvisational games we will write a play using characters and perform it at the end of camp.
Clay Creations (Ages 5-7) Instructor: Bob Hanlin
Come play in the clay. Campers will use hand building methods to create bowls, pitchers and decorative pieces. Embellishment with homemade stamps and texture tools make each creation one-of-a-kind. If you have love for mud this is your camp!
Movie Prop Design (Ages 8-10) FULL Instructor: Jacquelyn Pursell
Using a variety of materials campers will design and create props from some of Hollywood's best movies. Campers are encouraged to use their imagination when creating iconic objects like Dorothy's ruby slippers or Darth Vader's helmet.
Classic Animation (Ages 11-13) Instructor: Chad Mount
Explore the twelve principles of visual vocabulary created by Disney and still used by animation studios such as Pixar. Using hand drawing techniques we will create flipbooks and light boxes which bring the work to life. By the end of the week participants will have a strong understanding of the entire animation process.
Digital Photography (Ages 14-17) Instructor: Bek Anderson
Learn the basic of photography, composition and editing in this exciting camp. Participants will explore all types of photography from portraiture to landscape. City Arts Center and the fairgrounds provide many locations to make interesting images.
Week 12 (August 9 - 13) - $150
Behind the Scenes (Ages 5-7) Instructor: Alonna Dray
Ever wonder what goes on before a movie is made? Campers will explore all of the elements needed to create movies including story boards, set design, and costume design. A variety of media will be used including drawing, painting, collage and paper mache.
Mix it Up: "Mary Poppins " (Ages 5-7) FULL Instructor: Annalissa Campbell
Using a variety of media and techniques, campers will be inspired by the whimsical world of "Mary Poppins." Fundamenthals of drawing, painting and sculpture are introduced through projects that encourage creativity. This camp is perfect for kids who love all types of art.

Caribbean Carnival (Ages 8-10) Instructor: Heather Burns Chappelle
Inspired by natural elements such as ocean waves, lightning strikes and the forest, campers learn rhythmic musical traditions and costume crafts of Cuba, Puerto Rico and Haiti. Movement, storytelling, Spanish language and song combine in this colorful exploration of Caribbean carnival parades and celebrations.
Hand Building Pottery (Ages 11-13) Instructor: Carri Dolan
Explore the world of clay for a week. Participants will learn how to hand build using slab, coil, pinch and extrusion techniques. Functional and decorative items that can last a lifetime will be created. If you like to get your hands dirty, this is the camp for you!
Portfolio Builder (Ages 14-17) Instructor: Lacye Swilley-Russell
This camp is for those who are interested in learning advanced techniques in drawing, painting, mixed media and print making. Designed for both the intermedia and advanced student who wants to hone their skills. Great for building a portfolio of work.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
2010 Dates: May 24 - August 13
The camps run from 9 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday (unless otherwise noted).
Before & After Care is available for parents for $6 per day, per child. It starts at 7:30am and ends at 6pm Monday through Thursday. Before care is available on Friday. After care is not available on Friday.
Pizza Day is offered on Friday for an additional $6. It includes pizza, drinks, and two snacks.
Camp Store Cards are available for purchase in $5 increments. Items at the camp store are priced from $ .25 to $ .75.

*Please note: Online enrollment for camps will be removed from the website the Friday before camps start. If you are interested in camps for that week, please either call or stop by City Arts Center to enroll your child.
