Fundamentals of Acrylic Painting

This class introduces the underlying concepts of acrylic painting and provides a solid foundation for further exploration. Composition, value, color, materials and techniques are covered. Students view the paintings of contemporary artists and work from still life to sharpen skills. This class is designed for both beginners and those looking to refresh their outlook.
Jennifer is an active artist who frequently shows her work locally. She holds a BFA in painting from the University of Oklahoma and by day coordinates arts education projects at the Arts Council of Oklahoma City.

Acrylic Painting with Bert Seabourn

Instructor: Bert Seabourn
Explore the bridge between realism and abstraction while painting alongside renowned artist Bert Seabourn. This class focuses on creating unique works through a fusion of design, color, form and composition. In addition to painting techniques an introduction to transfers and collage is tailored to the development of each artist. All students receive individual attention.
Bert is an American Expressionist painter and has exhibited his work throughout the United States and around the world. He has previously taught watercolor, acrylic and paint making workshops.

Fundamentals of Oil Painting
Wednesdays | 10am - Noon | Fall Session: $120

Instructor: Chris Small
Beginning and experienced painters learn to work with the unique properties of oil paint. A mixture of demonstration and individual attention guides students from the handling of materials, color theory and composition through the creation of finished paintings. Instruction is tailored to the abilities and goals of each artist.
Chris is a realist painter whose work appears in both public and private collections statewide. He holds a BFA in Painting from Oklahoma City University and has taught painting and drawing at OSU-OKC and the University of Central Oklahoma.

Figure Drawing
Mondays | 7 - 9 pm | Fall Session: $150 (model fee included)
Instructor: Glen Thomas
Students learn to render the human figure quickly and accurately by working each week with live models. Early emphasis is on creating quick gestural drawings. As the class progresses an emphasis is placed on expressive line, value, perspective and proportion. Glen gives weekly demonstrations and provides individual attention throughout. Basic drawing skills are recommended.
Glen Thomas has a bachelor's degree in art and has completed graduate work at the University of Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma City University. His work has recently been displayed at City Arts Center and 50 Penn Place.
Drawing with Color
Tuesdays | 10am - Noon | Fall Session: $120
Instructor: Chris Small
This class covers the materials and principles used when drawing with color. Appropriate for both students who are beginning to draw and those looking to learn new techniques. Color theory is explored along with fundamentals such as line, form and value. Both pastels and colored pencils are used.

Fundamentals of Drawing
Thursdays | 7 - 9 pm | Fall Session: $120
Instructor: George Oswalt
This class provides beginning students with a solid foundation in drawing. George focuses on the fundamentals through work with line, shape, value and form. Various techniques are exposed using pencil, charcoal and prismacolor while working from still life. Formal principals such as shading, proportion and composition are covered.
George Oswalt is a contemporary painter who frequently shows his work regionally. He has taught at both the high school and college levels and holds an MFA in painting from the University of Oklahoma.
